Si è svolta il 23 luglio a Roma “Morti bianche – Lavoro Nero”, una giornata dedicata alla sicurezza sul lavoro. Organizzata dalla Presidenza del Consiglio provinciale di Roma si è snodata dal mattino alla sera attraverso vari appuntamenti, politici, culturali e spettacolari. Al mattino sono stati proiettati i film e documentari 3,87 di Valerio Mastandrea, Apnea di Roberto Dordit, Morire per un giorno di lavoro di Donato Placido. È seguita, nel pomeriggio, una seduta straordinaria del Consiglio Provinciale durante la quale sono intervenuti per un dibattito sulle morti bianche il ministro del Lavoro Cesare Damiano, il Presidente della Provincia di Roma Enrico Gasbarra e l’assessore alle politiche del lavoro della Provincia Gloria Malaspina. Nel piazzale del Colosseo è stato allestito un percrso composto da scarpe antiinfortuni e caschi di protezione in un lungo serpentone per ricordare gli oltre cinquecento morti sul lavoro del 2007. In serata, lo stesso piazzale è stato teatro di letture teatrale e letterarie. Coordinati dal Trio Medusa, tre «Jene» che hanno realizzato per la trasmissione numerosi servizi sulle morti bianche, si sono avvicendati sul palco: Stefano Mencherini, autore del testo teatrale Il pane loro, al quale hanno collaborato Gianni D’Elia, Roberto Roversi, Franco Loi, Alda Merini e Attilio Lolini; l’attore e regista Ulderico Pesce, che ha recitato uno splendido brano dal suo ultimo spettacolo Il triangolo degli schiavi; Christian Raimo, che ha proposto La Montagna bianca, una dolente rivisitazione delle Beatitudini; Elena Stancanelli; Mauro Covacich, che ha letto un racconto ispirato al lavoro nei call center; Beppe Sebaste, che ha messo in scena una commovente litania con i nomi delle vittime del lavoro; e Marco Lodoli, che ha letto un racconto-poesia scritto per l’occasione.

Ogni giorno in Italia quattro persone muoiono sul posto di lavoro. Dall’inizio dell’anno a oggi le vittime sono 587. Un numero destinato a crescere, un numero che è una vera e propria emergenza. È, però, un numero che non è un numero: 587 significa una persona morta per guadagnarsi da vivere, più un’altra persona morta per guadagnarsi da vivere, più un’altra ancora morta per guadagnarsi da vivere, più un’altra persona… 587 persone morte di lavoro. Uccise dall’incuria, dalla logica del profitto, dallo sfruttamento. L’altro ieri a Roma, davanti al Colosseo, hanno messo in fila, uno dopo l’altro, scarponi anti-infortunio ed elmetti di protezione (l’equipaggiamento per garantire il minimo di sicurezza nei cantieri). Volevano metterne tanti quante sono a oggi le vittime del lavoro. Ma non l’hanno potuto fare: quel serpentone di elmetti e scarponi sarebbe uscito dal piazzale, avrebbe camminato lungo i Fori Imperiali, sarebbe arrivato a piazza Venezia… Immaginate ora i piedi che erano dentro quelle scarpe, i corpi retti da quei piedi, provate a immaginarvi in fila, uno dopo l’altro, quei corpi, triturati dalle betoniere, schiacciati dalle presse, carbonizzati dal fuoco, dilaniati dagli scoppi, svuotati da una caduta dall’impalcatura, spezzati da un trattore. Persone di tutte le età e di tutte le nazionalità, persone con una famiglia, madri, padri, figli. Persone senza nome, immigrati al nero, senza storia. Provate adesso a sentire se vi succede qualcosa dentro. Se provate dolore o rabbia, o tutt’e due. Sentimenti semplici, umani, che molti attivano automaticamente alla vista di un gattino ferito. Se sentite qualcosa, a immaginarvi quei corpi ammucchiati e nascosti dietro il numero 587, non siete ancora anestetizzati. Non siete come le persone che non c’erano ieri l’altro al Colosseo, a testimoniare il loro sdegno per questa strage silenziosa. Che rischia di rimanere tale. Perché l’altra sera, a Morti bianche-Lavoro nero, la giornata organizzata dalla Provincia di Roma, non c’era pubblico. Non c’era il pubblico che si meriterebbero 587 morti, che non si meritano neanche gli artisti e gli scrittori che sono saliti sul palco. Quaranta, venti, cinquanta, trenta spettatori. Passanti. È vero, non c’era un cartello o un’insegna che spiegasse cosa stava succedendo, non c’erano sedie davanti al palco, e pochi sono disposti a sedersi per terra, sul pavè impolverato davanti al Colosseo. È vero, l’organizzazione dell’evento lasciava a desiderare. Ma quel vuoto davanti al palco, al Colosseo, ci racconta che siamo ormai anestetizzati, ci dice che abbiamo solo voglia di distrarci, non di occuparci delle tragedie quotidiane. E di quanto la vita in comune non ci interessi. Siamo soli. Vuoti. Come adesso quegli scarponi.

  32. 9 agosto, apro il giornale. oggi altri 3 (tre) morti sul lavoro, ammazzati dal lavoro, per guadagnarsi da vivere. spesso, lavoro nero. uno un ragazzo di sedici (16)anni. ma sulla prima pagina di Repubblica il titolo è che Valentino Rossi, grande cottidore in moto, ha evaso il fisco per sessantamila (60.000) euro. chissà se anche il suo si chiama lavoro nero.

L’altro giorno è toccato a un altro giovanissimo, rimasto schiacciato. A Roma, qualche giorno fa (vivo tra Lecce e Roma) un ragazzo rumeno mi ha raccontato un episodio agghiacciante. Lavorava in nero per una ditta di legnami, un giorno si è segato le cinque dita della sinistra, di netto. Mentre si sforzava di non perdere troppo sangue il titolare ruffiano gliela menava con la versione dei fatti da riportare in ospedale, lui sconvolto com’era ha abboccato. E’ rimasto senza dita, senza soldi e senza lavoro. Di storie così è pieno il mondo e forse ci si è stancati di raccontarle e di leggerle sui giornali, penso sia più stancante viverle. E’ una stanchezza che viene dal passato, eppure è ancora qui, intatta, nel 2007. Toh, guarda chi si rivede: il Medioevo! C’è proprio tutto, tale e quale, persino i capitani del feudo che si aumentano di 800 euro lo stipendio. E 800 euro magari non sono niente, però quel ragazzo senza dita, Florin si chiamava, mi ha detto che con quella cifra ci faceva campare tre persone, qui in Italia, a Roma per giunta. Non so se mi spiego, sfondando il portone aperto. Ci sono molti motivi per indignarsi mentre amiamo raccontarci la favola felice di quanto questo Paese sia abbastanza splendido.
